Your Life Is Your Choice
July 31, 2007 |
Do you know that your whole life is made up of all the choices you have made? Making good choices will sweep you to success faster than poor choices. The only way to get superior at making good decisions is to make more decisions. Then learn from the decisions that are made.
Don’t be incapacitated by the grip of indecision. When faced with numerous choices - pick one. Often you will not know what you have just gotten yourself into until a huge number of variables have been played out in real time. Of course, for many, this very idea that often can bring about paralyzing grip. Such is an example of my yoga friend who is still in tandem of choosing which job she should go for. With choices of up to 4 jobs opened to her, she doesn’t know what to do…
“In any moment of decision the unsurpassed thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing whatever.”
- Theodore Roosevelt
This quote brilliantly encapsulates the truth about making choices!
What he means is that the worst decision that one can make is to do nothing.
Well, some decisions just seem to come right in with a flash of original and almost extraordinary inspiration. You just knew from the depth of your heart and mind that there is no doubt about it. These are the decisions that are so good that you may wonder where they came from. Well, the answer is that they came from your experience and preparation, or what they call instinct.
In certain cases, when you make a poor decision, you may at first regret such poor decisions; that’s okay. The trick is to make that regret no more than a good lesson to be learned from them and to grow from it. If a decision is so bad you just cannot learn from it, pat yourself on the back because at least you did something.
However, if you chose to do nothing whatever, you are putting up yourself up for failure. You will never know if you would have made the right decision, and you lose the opportunity to learn from a poor decision.
What will you do the next time you are faced with a difficult decision? The selection is yours. success awaits.
