This Christmas, Be Selfish.
December 11, 2007 |
The holiday season is a time where we generally use to give to others and hopefully bring a smile to the faces of the less fortunate. For some of us, in our everyday lives, we encounter those that are less fortunate, those that need a helping hand or those who perhaps just don’t have. That’s where I want to encourage you to be selfish. Only think about yourself and what you have. Then, give it to others.
Just as there are times to share, there are times to be selfish. We have come to perceive the word “selfish” as a negative word meaning only thinking about ourselves or having our own best interest in mind. But, in order to truly be successful, or to attract abundance, we must first be grateful for what we have, then see how what we have would benefit someone else.
Look in your closets or your child’s closet. Just how many pairs of shoes can you wear at once? The abundance we have and the overflow we have is not for us. It’s for someone else. Take this opportunity to touch and bless the lives of the less fortunate by being selfish. Look at what you have, think about what you have, think about your time ONLY, then think about how all of that would be such a benefit to someone else.
Confused? I promise you won’t be after you try this exercise. A little selfish perhaps but not confused!
