Speak to Yourself - The Power of Thought
June 10, 2008 |
“So as a man thinketh, so is he.”
This most profound statement is true of whatever we desire to do or have in our lives. Everything that we receive or conceive is a by-product of our thoughts. When we think on something for any period of time, it becomes a part of who we are, a part of our makeup. We take that thought energy into our minds and bodies and it is then engrained into us, causing us to act and react in various ways.
Our thought process is affected in several ways, the foremost being outside stimuli. Whatever we see, we process in our brain and file it away in emotional crevices, intellectual crevices and even random musings. Once we have set a foundation for the things that we take in, our thought processes begin to form. It is then that we act on that process of formational thought and get results. The results? Usually a by-product of the stimuli that made those thought.
For example: If I think I can win a race against four other runners, but I only have a limited amount of experience compared to them, I have a chance at winning, The detriment comes in when I listen to and observe the stimulus from the other racers. Are they in better physical shape than me? Are they leaner, more muscular or better toned? Is their gear in better shape than mine? Do they have the latest and most expensive running shoes available? Are they talking more “win” talk than me, high-fiving each other and doing the win dance? If I observe these stimuli long enough and allow it to penetrate my thinking, I will only get results from whatever my thought process is.
Think strength. Think positive. Think high. That’s when you win the race.
