Keeping Your Own Journal - What Do You Do With It?
October 2, 2007 |
Sometimes writing your own journal is very much akin to writing your own diary. Except that you write much more down. Diaries are usually just daily accounts of what is happening. But journals are much more than that. You write anything you want to write about each day, each thought, each idea, each inspiration, a little inspired sketch, a funny joke you thought, a hunch, a tinkling sensation of premonitions… Nothing is too small to write in your journal… In fact it is all these little things that you might let pass by that you can record which in turns help you fine tune and develop your intuition.
One of the most helpful things a journal does is give us the ability to look back on records and refer to them. So for example if you encountered a problem and overcame it in the past and a similar problem crops up then you can reflect back and apply the same solution or adapt it for a more positive outcome. By reading the past incidents, it can remind you of how you overcame them, how you felt and these are the important emotions that can brace you for future difficulties. This enable you to look back on the situation and finding what you liked about it or what you experienced from it and then deciding how you could do better next time or how you could have better experienced from it. The key to recovering from past mistakes and succeeding in the future is to learn from your mistakes but remember to focus on your strong points rather than your weak ones.
This goes a long way to building self-confidence and helping you succeed in life when things get tough and can help comfort you. Therefore, you are building a positive outlook on life which greatly increases your chances of success!
There were many times when I re-read my journal and thought how silly some situations are and how silly my thinking was or how wrong I was about certain things. From there, I built my experiences and I realize how my thinking has grown. Thus keeping your own journal may be the best thing you can help yourself to succeed in life!

Yeah, I always feel smarter when I look back on my journal entries. I’d often be in awe of how caught up I was in a problem or how stupid I sounded. Journaling may not always be a confidence booster for some, but it certainly is a good outlet for emotions.

In a very short period of time, my laptop has completely changed the way I manage my life. I do all of my banking on line, books flights, make hotel reservations, search for my soul mate, stay in touch with family and friends, and now I even use my computer to keep my daily journal. It’s just one more way technology has helped me organize my life. There are some really great personal journal software programs available today. The one I use has been specifically designed to help work with all of the principles taught in The Secret. You can find out more about it at www.dreamndo.com
