“The First Thing I Want To Do Is… ”

Name two things that you want to have accomplished in 180 days. That’s only a mere six months away. Surely we all have at least 1-2 major things that we want to accomplish. In order to do this, it is very helpful to start goal setting in order to give you a better idea of what you want and show you how to get there.

Setting personal goals can be a challenge sometimes because of the amount of determination and focus that is required for success. When you decide to set a personal goal or multiple goals, you will find that you can become easily distracted or get off focus. To avoid this, follow these steps to see how you can accomplish meeting goals you have set for yourself.

1. Write down your goal on one sheet of paper. Only use one sheet of paper per personal goal to keep your thought patterns simplified. This helps to train your thought pattern and avoid over-cluttering, which can be one of the major reasons for not meeting goals.

2. Record the goal, goal date, start date and time. When this information is presented to you each time you record a goal, you’ll find that your “mental” clock will start ticking to remind you of how much time you have left to reach your goal.set your goals

3. Create a to-do list each day surrounding reaching your goal. It can be as small as 2 steps or 1 phone call to make. When I was studying for a religion class, I had to read through the Pentateuch. Doing this, as you can imagine, can take months! Well, I simply set a goal of 30 days, divided up the total number of chapters in the Pentateuch and applied that much reading time to it DAILY. If I got off course (which I did once), I doubled you the next time on my reading to help me clearly reach my goal in 30 days. To-do lists really work great.

4. View your progress each day. See where you have started and note where you are from that point, on a daily basis. If you are a visual learner, graph your progress on a spreadsheet, print it and place it next to your desk, bed, etc. This is a subtle encourager that you can look at each day and stay motivated.

Stop procastinating and the first thing you can do for yourself is to follow these 4 simple steps to goal settings to get you going today!

I think that staying focused is the key!

I think this sort of goal-setting process works only for goals where you know exactly what steps to take in order to achieve the goal.

But for a goal that you
